Grey Face Rescue & Retirement is holding a free microchip event for your pet on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The organization is celebrating Responsible Pet Ownership Day. The first 50 animal owners will receive a free microchip when they show proof of their animal's updated rabies vaccine.

According to Grey Face's official Facebook event, over 10 million pets are reported lost every year. Many of those animals are never found. Microchipping your animal can put your mind at ease knowing you'll be able to locate them if they ever go missing.

If your pet already has a microchip, you can bring them in and make sure it's still working. You can also update the information to make sure everything is accurate.

The event will be held at the Grey Face building at 7316 Ridgewood Road, St. Cloud.
