Gophers at Northwestern, Johnnies in D3 Playoffs

The Minnesota Golden Gophers (5-5) are looking to become bowl eligible today when they face the #23 Northwestern Wildcats (7-3) in Evanston, Illinois. The #6 St. John's Johnnies (9-1) are on the road to face #9 North Central College (9-1) in the opening round of the NCAA D-III playoffs.

The Gophers are coming off a dominating 54-21 win over Nebraska last weekend at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. St. John's ended their regular season last week with a 10-3 over Concordia College.

The Johnnies are one of only five at-large bids among the 32 team field in this year's D3 playoff bracket.

Sure it's a long-shot, but three playoff wins by the Johnnies and three playoff wins by the Tommies would have SJU and UST playing for the D3 national title in mid-December in Virginia. How fun would that be?
