Giants Top Tigers To Win Game 1 of World Series
The San Francisco Giants defeated the Detroit Tigers in Game 1 of the World Series 8-3 Wednesday night. Pablo Sandoval was 4-4 with homeruns in his first 3 at bats and he finished with 4 RBIs and Marco Scutaro had 2 hits and 2 RBIs for the Giants. Barry Zito threw 5 2/3 innings with 1 earned run allowed to get the win and Justin Verlander allowed 6 hits and 5 earned runs in 4 innings to take the loss.
The Giants lead the best of 7 series 1 game to none and will host game 2 tonight at 7pm. Righthander Doug Fister will start on the mound for the Tigers and lefthander Madison Bumgarner will toe the rubber for the Giants.
