It seems right now in the Twin Cities, another month means another familiar face on Twin Cities television is leaving. A Twin Cities news anchor from KMSP, also known as Fox 9, posted to social media on Friday that they were walking away from television. Here's what we know.

Amy Hockert Steps Away From Television

Amy Hockert, who had been with Fox 9 for the last 11 years, announced on social media that she was walking away from television.

For fans of the Minnesota Timberwolves, following Hockert during the game was a must, and hopefully, she will continue her fan-tweeting going forward.

Another News Personality Leaving

Hockert's exit marks another high-profile exit from Twin Cities television. Over the last few months, various stations have lost popular anchors or meteorologists. Alex Jokich from KSTP left television after being in people's homes for the last 7 years. Also exiting from KMSP was Se Kwan, who moved to Chicago for work.

Reggie Wilson, former Sports Director for KARE, exited at the end of December 2025 after his position was eliminated.

It's odd to have so many exits from 'big name' reporters and anchors over such a short period of time, but the industry isn't the same as it was.

Viewers' Habits Have Shifted

The Star Tribune and Pioneer Press wrote about the shifting habits of Twin Cities television viewers last year, and it seems many of the exits from television are coming from a place that sees the shift away from 'traditional' television to "focusing heavily on digital delivery."
