Drag Queen from Minnesota Competing on RuPaul’s Drag Race

Shante, you stay Utica Queen!

I spent most of this summer binge-watching RuPaul's Drag Race from episode one, and am currently listening to a podcast dedicated to breaking down each episode one at a time. I love it so much, and a new season starts in January with a queen from Minnesota competing.

Utica Queen is a 25-year-old drag performer who is from Utica, Minnesota whose Instagram bio reads:

I have a feeling Utica will be the comic relief of season 13.

Utica's persona is an homage to the town of 291 they grew up in. Utica is a designer, and she makes a lot of her own stuff so she should do well in those types of challenges. She describes her fashion as "colorful Tim Burton but also old biblical painting".

My favorite quote from the intro video she did was:

"I know we don't come here to make friends, but I really wanna make friends. Get some new sisters! I'm the Switzerland of drag. Outside Dramaland. If anyone needs a hug or needs a little bit of positivity, I got ya."

Minnesota Nice is coming to that iconic workroom.

This is Utica's second time auditioning for RuPaul's Drag Race, and she has a lot to live up to, the very first winner ever was Bebe Zahara Benet, a fellow Minneapolis queen. Good luck Utica, and as RuPaul says, don't **** it up.
