2025 wraps up in a little less than a week. When you look back at 2025, what stands out to you? Maybe you tried something new this year, you traveled somewhere new, or you accomplished a goal you set for yourself. Whatever it is that you did, nice work. Chances are, in 2025, unless you live there, you didn't visit these 4 overlooked Central Minnesota cities. Put these towns on your to-do list in 2026.

How Are These Towns Overlooked?

Some of these towns are places you drive through or past without a second glance as you are on your way to larger cities in the area, but just because the population is small doesn't mean there aren't fun or exciting things to do or see in each of these towns on my list. If you live in an 'overlooked' city, let us know through the app, and we might highlight it in 2026!

You know where the exit is off of I-94, but Minnesota's title town has a lot to offer if you decide to take that exit. There are plenty of options if you are looking for some outdoor recreation, and there are plenty of things to do inside, with the bowling alley and Albany's Golf Club's TopTracer range. Don't sleep on Salt and Light Coffee House either.

Long Prairie sits on the Long Prairie River, has a great historic downtown, and the vibes you'll get from visiting are just how much personality exists here. Right now during the winter months, you can go for an outdoor skate at Soldier's Field, Prairie Days during the summer, plus lots of great local businesses to stop and see, like Griff's Pizza or 110 Coffee Co.

Located not far from Little Falls, the town of Pierz has a little something for everyone. If you are looking for some fun in the evening, there are plenty of options downtown to choose from: Frosty's, Toni's Tavern, or Bootlegger's. There is a world-class meat market in town with Thielen's Meats, plus the golf course just added 9-holes to give you 18 to play on the weekend. Don't sleep on Sue's Drive-In either when it's seasonally open.

6 Photos You Won't Believe Were Taken In Minnesota

After having spent the greater part of the last three weeks outside Minnesota, it has been great to be back. We live in a very beautiful part of the country. From the North Shore's jagged cliffs to the rolling croplands of southern Minnesota and to the driftless area near Preston, our state is filled with beautiful sights. I managed to find 6 photos that were taken right here in Minnesota, but when you look at them, you'd think they were taken somewhere else completely. Let's enjoy the land of 10,000 photos, shall we?
