Central Minnesota Beer: A History by Jacob Laxen Available Now
THE RISE AND FALL
Prohibition...it destroyed early beer empires, including The St. Cloud Brewing Company and New Munich's Pitzl Brewing.
The Cold Spring Brewing Company survived through many financial crises to continue brewing in the same spot since 1874.
The craft beer industry has certainly come back, with taproom culture throughout our region, bringing great brewing back to our areas of St. Cloud, St. Joseph, Annandale, Big Lake and many more.
Author Jacob Laxen is a former award winning USA Today reporter who just happened to work for the St. Cloud Times newspaper during a few separate stints from 2007 to 2010 and from 2014 to 2016.
Jacob is a graduate from St. Cloud State University and he has searched all over central Minnesota in search of beer and the stories behind the beer.
