I've lived in 'small towns' for the last decade. My wife came from a 'small town', and it just seems we are drawn to the lifestyle and slower pace that you get for living someplace that has less than 15,000 people in it. Most times when you are out running errands you'll run into a neighbor or parish-member and you'll stop and catch up. Down in Big Lake recently I saw more proof of why living in a 'small town' matters.

In the social media group, The Big Lake Forum, a person posted on December 21st that their neighbor, a disabled veteran, had a broken garage door.

I have a neighbor disabled vet 1 tour who's garage door is broken. Track is bent and spring is broke. He has no garage door opener would see if there was a company who would like to donate repairs and parts to make him a happy Christmas. PM me if interested i'll give you more info. I personally am not asking for money, but if some company here is willing to do the job and you want to donate to the cause then you can donate directly to that company.

That call for assistance was answered, and it seems like more than one person reached out to help this disabled vet in need this holiday season.

It seems that some folks over at Four Point Construction, along with two Yellow Ribbon groups saw the post and stepped up to help, and it seems our good samaritan felt the need to share the news with the vet's wife. After she was informed that someone would be coming by to fix the garage door, she hugged our friend Good Sam, and shed some tears of relief and joy.

^^^^ That right there is why I prefer to live in a small town, versus anywhere else.

Thanks to the folks who took care of these people, and feel free to send us more good news happening in our communities to share.
