Be Careful Walking Minnesota Wooded Trails – Wolf Attack Kills Dog While Owner Present
Wolves and other predators are being seen more each year in places where humans generally frequent. Most recently, a dog was killed while on a walk with it's owner.
A golden retriever mix, named Leo, was off-leach while on a walk and was attacked on a popular Duluth trail near Lake Superior Tuesday. Leo died as a result of the attack.
The Minnesota DNR reports that because of a less bountiful deer population, so wolves are more likely to wander into urban populations in search for food.

As a dog owner, this scares the daylights out of me. Even on our walks in county and state parks, I'm constantly worried about wild animal encounters. All you can do is either stay out of areas where wild predators may be, or keep a close eye on your pets and hope these wild animals are more afraid of you than you are of them.
