Time flies when you are a big songwriter in Nashville! Biwabik native turned Nashville songwriter Emily Shackelton scored her first number one hit over five years ago and now, she has scored another with the same award-winning formula. She now has two number one hits to her name in country music, something everyone in Nashville dreams of.

It was the end of 2017 when Emily snagged her first number one song as a songwriter. She helped pen Carly Pearce's big debut Every Little Thing and it hit the top of the charts that December. It launched both Emily and Carly into country music superstardom.

It's no secret they have both accomplished worlds since then, with Carly being named the female artist of the year by the ACMs an CMAs, along with several other award wins for various singles. Emily continues to write hits for some of the biggest stars in music and has a solo career as well.

Together, the powerhouse duo now have another number one hit to add to their long list of accomplishments as of March 2023. What He Didn't Do became Carly's fourth number one song as an artist and Emily's second number one as a songwriter. The song is featured on Carly's breakout album called 29: Written In Stone.

The critically-acclaimed project took Carly's career to a different level and many of the album tunes were penned along with Emily. These two are clearly meant to be friends and songwriters. Whenever they get in the writing room, it's magic. I can't wait to see what their next hit is.
