The Minnesota Twins (65-78) lost to the visiting New York Yankees 7-2 Monday night at Target Field.

Pitchers controlled things early in the game, with the score tied 0-0 after five innings, but that's when things changed for the worse for the Twins.

The New York Yankees scored one in the sixth, and six more in the seventh -- plating four more runs than they would need to get the win.

Minnesota scored a pair of runs in the eighth inning, to avoid the shutout.

Twins starter Kyle Gibson pitched 5 & 2/3 innings giving up one earned run on four hits and four walks, with five strikeouts.
