The United Way sent out a list of important needs here in central Minnesota that I wanted to share with you. Many of you want to do something...to help...in this time of crisis. Here are some great ideas for you and others to do just that. Find something that strikes you in the list below, and then go out and do something about it.

GIVE BLOOD

The American Red Cross is in need of healthy blood donors. You can schedule an appointment to give and are strongly urged to encourage your friends and neighbors to do so as well. To schedule an appointment, just click HERE now.

MAKE PLANS TO GIVE WITH YOUR VEGETABLE GARDEN

Do you LOVE to plant a garden every year, but always end up with a surplus that you just can't use fast enough? That's a great problem to have; and there are those out there in central Minnesota that need healthy food. If you are going to be planting, you are encouraged to plant an extra row of fruits and veggies to harvest late int he summer. Donate your extra food to feed local seniors at senior dining sites in the fall. If you would like more information on how to help, call 320.229.4584.

MN FOOD SHARE 2020 CAMPAIGN

The March campaign has been extended through April 30th, 2020. Food shelves are needing our help now more than ever. You can donate to your local food shelf and Mn Food Share will will provide a match to all participating food shelves. Below are some of the food shelves you can donate to, and/or call if you need more info.

STEARNS COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT MEDICAL EQUIPMENT DONATIONS

Our local healthcare community has reached out to ask you for donations for much needed items including the following:

  • Surgical masks
  • respirators
  • goggles
  • safety goggles
  • Powered air purified respirators
  • face shields
  • home made masks and face shields
  • Exam gloves
  • scrubs

All of the items are used for health care providers, and if anyone has any of the items on the list, which all must be new, can call the Stearns/Benton Hotline at 1.877.782.5683 or click HERE for more information.
