TODAY IS NATIONAL PUNCH DAY!

There's only one way to celebrate...make some punch. What is 'punch' anyway?

THE HISTORY OF PUNCH

In the 17th century, the drink made its way to England via those who worked for the British East India Company.  Before anyone knew it, it spread like wildfire all over Europe.  It was a very popular drink served at special events and family get togethers. Punch isn't as popular as it used to be, but who doesn't love a delicious glass of punch at a wedding reception, birthday party, or family get together?

WHAT IS PUNCH MADE OF? DEPENDS ON WHO YOU ASK

While Hillbilly Punch can be a fairly intoxicating, tasty and dangerous concoction, it's typically made by mixing a variety of fruit juices, and adding a littlle extra punch, which can be alcoholic or non-alcoholic. Food historians believe that the beverage originated in India - its name comes from the Hindi word paanch meaning five, and probably originated with 5 ingredients from India. It is traditionally served in a great big punch bowl..but lets get real...There's the Watermelon...always a great punch bowl..that lets you do the Watermelon Crawl.
