The Minnesota Timberwolves (1-2) lost to the Dallas Mavericks 140-136 Saturday night at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

The first half of the game was a high-powered offensive display on both sides, with the game tied 69-69 at the break.


The Timberwolves rested Jimmy Butler for the game as a precaution. Karl-Anthony Towns was the leading Timberwolves scorer with 31 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. Derrick Rose added 28, and Jeff Teague scored 22.

Luka Doncic led the Mavs with 26 points, 6 rebounds and three assists.
