These Popular Minnesota Bars Are Prohibited From Alcohol Deliveries
Running a business in Minnesota is tough. There are lots of spinning plates that you've got to keep up in the air, to keep your business running. One of the obligations of a company that sells alcohol is that it needs to pay the taxes on alcohol sales to the state every month, and if they don't, the state won't allow that business to get more booze. The latest Tax Delinquency List, also known as the Liquor Posting list, was just posted, and some popular names were on it.
The Minnesota Department of Revenue oversees this list, and many factors determine how a business might find itself on the list, and it's not always for late alcohol sales taxes.
According to the Department of Revenue website:
"Businesses on the list have delinquent taxes in any of the following categories: Sales, withholding, partnership, S corporations, and corporate. Minnesota sales and withholding taxes are “trust taxes” in that customers or employees pay these taxes with the expectation that businesses will remit them to the state on their behalf. It cannot be used by a business as additional operating capital or for any other purpose.
Distributors are prohibited from the sale or delivering to the listed businesses. Once a business pays the taxes owed, we remove it from the list within two business days."
Some of the businesses that are new to the list are:
- DOS HERMANOS MEXICAN RESTAURANT in Brooklyn Center
- TANDOOR in Maple Grove
- O'DONOVAN'S IRISH PUB in Minneapolis
- TOWER LIQUOR in North Branch
- THE DOCK in Stillwater
- TACO LAB in Rochester
- KINNEY CREEK BREWERY in Rochester
You can view the full list here, and the list is updated daily by noon. (A link to the Department of Revenue page)
A business can be removed from this list by becoming current on the back taxes that it owes. According to the Department of Revenue, "To be removed from the list, the Minnesota Department of Revenue requires full payment with secured funds. Taxpayers must notify the department at one of the numbers listed above after making payment. The department will remove the business from the list within two business days of full payment. Failure to notify the department of the payment will delay the removal from the list."

Some of the businesses that were recently removed from the Liquor Posting List in Minnesota were:
- DELTA SKY CLUB in Saint Paul
- ANGEL'S LIQUOR in Maple Grove
- GILIBERTO'S in Rochester
- CHESTER'S SMALL TOWN TAVERN & EATERY in Saint Francis
Portions of this post used information from the Liquor Posting List, which is published online, and businesses can be removed from the list. At the time of publication, this list was accurate according to the Minnesota Department of Revenue's website.
