The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is reminding Minnesotans to be careful after a truck fell through Leech Lake this week.

We're just starting to see the formation of ice on area lakes and ponds -- but there already needed to be an ice rescue yesterday in central Minnesota.

The Minnesota DNR has some tips for helping someone escape after falling through the ice.

Colder temperatures are on the way and it means kids are going to want to get on the ice and play pond hockey. But, officials are warning parents to exercise patience.

According to the Minnesota DNR, ice is never 100% safe.

According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, there really is no sure answer as to when ice is safe. You can't judge the strength of ice just by its appearance, age, thickness, temperature, or whether or not the ice is covered with snow. Strength is based on all these factors and more.
