If you're planning a trip up north to the cabin this coming weekend you'll likely have to skip the campfire.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is expanding burning restrictions across portions of central and northern Minnesota, beginning at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday.

Gusty winds combined with low humidities and dry conditions will increase wildfire danger across Minnesota where a Fire Weather Watch has been issued.

Due the high fire danger across parts of minnesota, some counties will have limited fireworks bans in place this weekend - among other restrictions.

As we head into the long holiday weekend, state officials are reminding you to use extreme caution with campfires and fireworks due to the high fire danger.

According to the DNR, there have already been 40 wildfires this year that have been directly caused by campfires and fireworks, SO BE CAREFUL!!
