
Royalton Finishes National T-Mobile Contest With Over 300K Votes
Yesterday, an area football team/community wrapped up participation in a national contest and, in the process, racked up more than 300,000 votes to finish in 5th place. The Friday Night 5G Lights contest, put on by T-Mobile, saw 25 high schools nationwide compete for the chance to win a million dollars in upgrades to their school/football field.
Royalton Ended The Contest In 5th Place Nationally
According to the contest webpage, Royalton racked up more than 330,000 votes in the national contest, which was just enough to finish in 5th place. In all, Royalton had 332,016 votes in the contest.
Since the school made the top-25 in the nation, they received a $25,000 grant from T-Mobile, which was then matched by the Royalton Fire Department.
The winning high school, Dierks High School, in Dierks, Arkansas, had more than 1.9 million votes and will receive the grand prize, which includes "a homefield upgrade, Gronk Fitness weight room, 2026 tailgate,and a trip to the SEC Championship."
The Community Came Together & Rallied Around The Royals
T-Mobile reached out, and they were impressed with just how well the community and state rallied behind the Royals, and they indicated that Royalton should enter the contest again next year. In fact, the folks at T-Mobile were so impressed by Royalton that they highlighted what the fans did in the winning press release!

"Schools from coast to coast showcased their pride in big ways — Princeville’s “Magenta Machine” tractor became a symbol of community power, River Oaks turned local talent into a rally rap, and Royalton High School lit up its stands in a stunning “Turn on the Lights” challenge."
About $80,000 was raised by the school through T-Mobile and local matches.
