Join me Sunday morning, June 28th, at 11 am for the Sunday Morning Country Classic Spotlight featuring Jim Ed Brown.

JIm Ed Brown was born April 1, 1934 in Sparkman, Arkansas and passed away June 11, 2015 at the age of 81 in Franklin, Tennessee.

He announced in September of 2014 that he had been diagnosed with lung cancer.  In early 2015 he was in remission, however earlier this month the cancer returned and took his life.

He achieved fame in the early 1950's with his sisters as a member of the Browns.  He later had a successful solo career from 1965 to 1974 followed by a string of major duets with Helen Cornelius, a breast cancer survivor through 1981.

Jim also hosted a syndicated radio show, 'Country Music Greats' from Nashville, Tennessee.  On the show he told tales of living and working in the country music industry.  Besides his weekly two hour syndicated country music radio show, he hosted a short forum vignette, 'Country Music Greats Radio Minute.  He also hosted many television shows throughout  his career.

His funeral was held on June 15th at the Ryman Auditorium where family, friends and fans gathered to honor the Grand Ole Opry legend and Country Music Hall of Famer.  The service was 90 minutes and focused on harmony.
