Join me Sunday, May 10th, Mother's Day, for a trip down memory lane as we showcase the life and music of Dwight Yoakam.

Dwight wears many hats; singer, songwriter, actor and director but he is perhaps most famous for his pioneering country music.  He has recorded more than 21 albums, charted more than 30 singles and sold over 25 million records.

He is best known for his traditional honkytonk and Bakersfield country.  He helped return country music to its roots in the late 1980's.  Merle Haggard, Buck Owens and Hank Williams were his idols.

His hits include Honky-Tonk Man, Streets of Bakersfield, Guitars, Cadillacs and many more.

He has also starred in many films such as Sling Blade in 1996, Panic Room in 2002 and Hollywood Homicide in 2003.  Dwight has also been dubbed the most frequent musical guest on the NBC Tonight Show.

He has won two Grammy Awards for Best Male Country Vocal Performance in 1994 for Ain't That Lonely Yet, Best Country Collaboration with Vocals in 1999 for Same Old Train and scored an Americana Music Award for Artist of the Year in 2013.
