Join me Sunday August 16th at 11 am for the Sunday Morning Country Classic Spotlight featuring Deborah Allen.

Deborah Allen was born Deborah Lynn Thurmond in Memphis, Tennessee on September 30, 1953.  The former Memphis beauty queen had a very successful career as a songwriter in Nashville before achieving success as a performer.

Her country-pop style was showcased in her 1983 hit Baby I Lied. The song was written by Deborah, Rafe Vanhoy, who she was married to and Rory Bourke.  It was released in August from the album Cheat the Night.  The song peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart.

Did I say I wouldn’t be hurt if our love just didn’t work?  Did I say that I’d be okay if you said goodbye?

In 1979 she began recording duets with Jim Reeves.  She added harmonies to Reeves’ tracks and three of these tunes including Don’t Let Me Cross Over became a top ten country hit.

She has worn many hats in her long career, country music singer, songwriter, author and actress.  Deborah continues her songwriting and producing; to put it simply she was born to be an entertainer.
