Sugar N Spice has announced a recall of their ground cumin spice due to possible peanut contamination. The recall was issued on Wednesday, May 12.

When a person with a peanut allergy is exposed there's a potential for a mild or even severe allergic reaction. According to Coborn's website, "there have been no reports of allergic reactions to date from consumption of this product."

If you've got a peanut allergy or are concerned about it, you should check your ground cumin label to make sure your spice isn't part of the possibly contaminated batch.

Here's what to look for specifically;

  • Sugar N Spice Ground Cumin with a UPC code 7-25677-21423 in the 2 ounce package with best by dates of 2/08/2024, 2/09/2024 and 3/23/2024.
  • Sugar N Spice Ground Cumin with a UPC code 7-25677-21062 in the 5.68 ounce package with best by dates of 2/08/2024, 2/09/2024 and 3/23/2024.
  • Four Brothers Ground Cumin with a UPC code 7-33147-51602 in the 2 ounce package with best by dates 2/08/2024,  2/09/2024, 3/23/2024 and 2/24/2024
  • Four Brothers Ground Cumin with a UPC code 7-33147-51623 in the 5.68 ounce package with a best by date of 2/08/2024, 2/09/2024, 3/23/2024 and 3/24/2024.

If you have a package of ground cumin matching any of the above recalled product you can just return the item to the store and Coborn's will give you a full refund, according to their website. If you've got ground cumin at home that doesn't match the above product recall, then it's safe to use.
