‘Stay Safe MN’ is the Next Phase: What It Means
Governor Walz is allowing Minnesota's 'Stay at Home' order to expire Sunday night, moving into the next phase he's calling 'Stay Safe MN' -- but what exactly does that mean?
- Beginning Monday, May 18, non-critical businesses, like retail stores and main street businesses, can reopen if they have a social distancing plan and operate at 50 percent capacity. We're all asked to social distance and wear a mask when in public.
- Also, starting May 18, Minnesotans are welcome to gather with friends and family in groups of 10 or less with safe social distancing practices in place.
- A plan is being developed to open close-contact businesses including hair salons, dine-in restaurants, and fitness centers on June 1st.
Governor Walz added:
The stay-at-home order is expiring and the dials are turning, but that doesn’t mean we are carefree and can return to the way things were. It means we have to stay safe, take care, care for our own health and care for our neighbor.
But really, and this is still the critical part: staying home is still the safest place to be. This is not the time to get crazy, but instead a time to be smart about where you go, what you do, and how you do it. We're all in this together.

By staying home since March 26th, we have successfully pushed out the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic and bought our state time to get ready to treat those who fall ill.
