Stay at ‘Barbie’s Dream House’ B&B Just Two Hours from St. Cloud
This seriously looks like Barbie's Dream House.
It isn't though, it is a bed and breakfast in Faribault Minnesota, about two hours south of St. Cloud. This colorful building is the Historic Hutchinson House, originally built in 1892 by John Hutchinson, Jr., a Civil War veteran.
In 1915, in declining health, Master Hutchinson, his third wife and child moved to California leaving their majestic home behind. A local doctor and inventor, Dr. Stephen B. Haessly, and his wife, Effie, purchased the home from John Hutchinson, and converted it during the depression to make room for renters for extra money.
In 1999, Steven Usdansky and Janet Smith, the sixth owners, acquired the house and gave it the Painted Lady look (Periwinkle blue with pink trim) as it is seen today. Dana & Olena Anderson are the current owners and operators of the B&B.
Named in the Top 50 Coolest Houses in Minnesota, the home has five spacious guest rooms, eight bathrooms, a three story octagonal turret, a wrap around porch, and that special Victorian era charm you expect from a traditional Bed & Breakfast.
Overall it looks like a great place to relax, and it is in a prime location being only three blocks from downtown Faribault. Check it out and book your stay here.
Abbey is on 98.1 Minnesota's New Country weekdays from 2-7 PM.
