If you are looking to take a break this summer, you know, get away from it all and spend your day on the boat, catching fish, there is one Minnesota city that gets overlooked all the time, but it should be one of your go-to destinations during the year, especially if you like to be on the water.

Gateway To Vermillion

Most would think Ely if you were looking to leave all your troubles behind for a long week of fishing. While Ely is great, there is another option if you are looking at getting out on the lake for some real fishing, and it might cost you a little bit less than Ely.

Tower is an often-overlooked gem of a getaway during the open water season. Not only are you on Vermillion, but there is access to wilderness areas and paddling routes, it's much less crowded than Ely during peak summer weekends, and there, of course, is incredible fishing.

One Of The Oldest Cities In The Arrowhead Region

Tower was incorporated in 1889, making it one of the oldest cities in the Arrowhead region. The town has a population of less than 500, but it's got some other options if you aren't into fishing. The

Tower is also home to the Tower Train Museum, plus you aren't far from the Soudan Underground State Park.
