I was looking at the State Fair grandstand lineup this weekend, realizing that I (much like Donnie & Marie) am a little bit country & a little bit rock & roll. Def Leppard? (Love), Carrie Underwood? (Yes), Alan Jackson? (Cool), Lynyrd Skynyrd? (Yup), Merle Haggard? (Totally?) -- but what's the one performance I have to see?

Yep, it's 'A Prairie Home Companion' with Garrison Keillor live from the Minnesota State Fair grandstand. It's like Minnesota + Minnesota x Minnesota plus the square root of a Pronto Pup (raised to the power of a Powder Milk Biscuit) = YES!!!

Show your work damn it. (And that's how Minnesota I am.)

I bought four tickets today for the September 4th show, hoping Amie and my parents want to (and can go). Apparently retirement is incredibly taxing. (WTF?) Thank god they weren't retired when I was growing up. I would have ended up in an orphanage.
