Former Minnesota KSTP Broadcaster Dies at 81

When I was growing up with only only one TV in the house, we wind up watching whatever the person is watching who got there first.  And when it came to the 5:00 or 6:00 hours we were at the mercy of our parents.  What that meant was that we were watching the news.  That's just the way it was.  There really was not other choice.  Not like now.  There are lots of choices.

One of the newscasts that my parents would watch would be KSTP.  And I definitely remember Stan Turner as one of the main anchors on the station.  He was also on KDWB as the news guy for a bit.

I heard about Turner's passing this morning when I saw a video of him doing a broadcast during the 80s.  Things really looked different then compared to now, but it brought back all the memories of my childhood.

LEGACY

Stan Turner was inducted into the Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2009.

Having cancer for 3 years seems both long and short at the same time.  It has taken so many people, and does not discriminate.  Fine a cure! Stan Turner was 81. That is still a long life, and his legacy will continue in all of the journalists that he helped along the way.  I'm sure he will and is missed by many.
