MAYBE MY KIDS WILL STAY CLOSE

I'm a Mom of three adult boys who are all just about at the age of finding a place of their own. It sounds like we might just be in a great area for them to get started.

THEY LOVE ST. CLOUD

According to a new study at rentcafe.com, St. Cloud is the largest hub for Gen Zs, with a high share of 40% in Zoomers’ apartment applications in 2020. Who knew!

St. Cloud was followed by:

  • Rochester
  • Minneapolis
  • St. Paul

Smaller markets offer an opportunity for younger adults not just to live in a place, but to help to create or contribute to it in meaningful ways. In turn, many of these smaller cities seem to make them feel like they are apart of the community.

You can read the full study here and see how other cities in Minnesota and other states rank: https://www.rentcafe.com/blog/rental-market/market-snapshots/trending-gen-z-cities/.

THE TOOLS EVERY YOUNG RENTER NEED TO HAVE

In addition to this interesting information, the same website has some pretty interesting tips for newbie and young renters; like some of the essential things that every renter needs to have, including:

  • A screwdriver set
  • Nails, screws and anchors
  • A hammer
  • A Level
  • A flashlight
  • A utility knife
  • A tape measure

It also discusses ways to split the rent; one of the biggest difficulties when trying to figure out who would be a reliable and good renting roommate. All to often, we find out that we are NOT compatible with our best friends as they can be less reliable, maybe have different schedules, and might not have the same ideas of keeping an apartment clean as we do. Hey...if everyone in your party likes a mess, or everyone loves it neat and tidy...you'll probably have no problems.  Let's just say...you never know until you try.
