Lauren Alaina is ready to make her acting debut in her first film, Road Less Traveled, and fans can now get a taste for what to expect with the release of a new trailer.

The film stars Alaina as a 25-year-old singer-songwriter named Charlotte living in California, who returns to her humble Tennessee home to find the perfect wedding dress for her upcoming nuptials. The trailer includes snippets of the singer and her on-screen friends partying the night away and getting stranded on the side of the road after running out of gas, with Alaina joking that hitchhiking is like "Uber, but for thumbs."

There appears to be a bit of drama thrown in the mix when Alaina's former boyfriend, who's now the town sheriff, keeps appearing in her life, arresting her after a night of partying and inviting her on stage to sing at a local open mic night. This, of course, puts up red flags for her fiancé back in California.

The 22-year-old's music also has a presence in the movie, as the trailer features the No. 1 hit it's named. More songs from her Road Less Traveled album, including the second single "Doin' Fine," "Queen of Hearts" and more will be played in the film.

Both the Road Less Traveled album and this film center around Alaina's real-life struggles with bulimia and her father's alcoholism. She admits that she's enjoyed the acting experience and hopes to do more, but finds the whole kissing on screen part of the job a little uncomfortable.

“It was a little nerve-wracking to kiss onscreen. It’s so uncomfortable because so many people are watching and you’ve just met the person," she tells Taste of Country.

The film will be released later in 2017.
