Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library sends a free, age-appropriate book to enrolled children every month from birth until they turn 5. The program has grown from its beginnings in Parton’s hometown to communities around the world, including right here in Central Minnesota.

But there is something many people may not realize about those free books arriving in children's mailboxes. While families never pay for them, local communities play an important role in making the program possible

In Central Minnesota, United Way of Central Minnesota helps fund and operate the local Imagination Library program. That means donations from people and organizations in our community can help put books directly into the hands of local children.

The books may carry Dolly Parton's name and vision, but keeping that vision alive takes local support.
