A scary bus stop incident along Riverside Avenue South in Sartell was caught on a home surveillance camera this morning and has been shared by the Sartell Police Department.

In the video, you can see a school bus make a compete stop for a student on the opposite side of the road. Meanwhile at least three vehicles are seen whipping by with no intention of stopping for the bus. At one point, the bus driver started honking his horn.

The police department originally stated they were working with the bus company to track down the violators and asked they turn themselves in.

The post has since been updated to let the public know they made contact with the bus driver after he completed his route. He told police he didn't activate his red lights or the stop arm because he  could tell the drivers weren't going to stop. He felt the stop arm and lights would signal to the student that it was safe to cross the street, and he didn't feel it was safe. He sounded the horn to warn her not to cross the road.

Police praised the driver's quick thinking and consideration for the student's safety. They also stated that regardless of this morning's outcome, the video should serve as a reminder to watch out for buses and always be prepared to stop.
