Classic Rock Tribute Shows Light Up Pioneer Place This Month
ST. CLOUD (WJON News) -- Tributes to classic rock take the stage at the Pioneer Place on Fifth in Downtown St. Cloud this month. This Friday, Mallrats are doing their show, MTV Unplugged, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to that show are limited.
A tribute to Motley Crue, to Nirvana, Queen, and Journey, Kansas, Styx and Foreigner are also on tap in the coming weeks.
Owner Ray Herrington says these tribute bands, like The Crown Jewels, which cover Queen's biggest hits, tour all over the country.
Xepedition plays all over the country; they are huge throughout the Central United States, and pretty big in Minnesota. These bands have been around; they know what they are doing, and it's pretty cool to get them here in St. Cloud.
Even though it is still September, and the temperatures are hot outside, now is the time to be thinking about your Christmas holiday entertainment. The Pioneer Place on Fifth has a full schedule of shows starting on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
The first night is a comedy Christmas show, which is pretty cool. There's some 50s rock n roll, 80s rock n roll, a couple of country shows, some bluegrass, there's an Elvis Christmas show.
Herrington says the holiday-themed shows are always popular, and many sell out every year. The holiday shows run through Christmas Eve.
