THE GIFT OF FAMILY - FOR YOU AND THEM

What does National Adoption Awareness Month mean to you? Are you a single parent thinking that you can't adopt because you're not married? Have you always wanted to adopt but just haven't done it yet, because it seems so far out of reach? Are you older and think that maybe there is an age limit for adoption?

All of your questions can be answered. If adoption is something that you've always thought about, why not make it a reality? There are so many children out there that need a parent. Everyone's situation is different; but if it's something that's on your heart; only YOU can take action to do something about it.

FOSTER CHILDREN

All children deserve a family. Somehow things happen in people's lives that cause families to break up; sometime with children in their early teens in foster care. If you have raised your children, and maybe they are teens and older, maybe you want to adopt an older child? Maybe you think that being older means you don't have the energy to keep up with a young child. You are probably wrong. Parents, of any age, take care of their children. You do what you do.

GET INFORMATION AND TAKE THAT FIRST STEP

The goal of National Adoption Month is to increase awareness of the need for permanent families for kids in the U.S. foster care system.
This year's National Adoption Month theme is "Youth Voices: Why Family Matters."
Have you considered adopting an older child? This could be a great idea. Teenagers are much less likely to be adopted and are more likely to age out of foster care without family support.
Can you imagine having to grow up without a family? It seems like an emptiness that shouldn't exist.
