The Minnesota Vikings Will Be The First NFL Team To Do This…
It was a great Sunday for Minnesota Vikings fans as the Purple and Gold lashed the Cincinnati Bengals 48-10 at US Bank Stadium. Even through my TV you could feel the energy inside the building as the Vikings established and then kept control of the game.
Hopefully those vibes will keep swirling around the stadium because it will be almost a month before the team plays again in the friendly confines of here in Minnesota.
A First For The NFL
The next two weeks the Vikings will do something no other NFL team has done in the past, and that is play consecutive games outside the US in different countries. The Vikings are scheduled to leave Minnesota later this week and fly to Dublin for a game that will be played at 8:30 Sunday morning here in Minnesota. Dublin is six hours ahead of us on the clock.
Then the Vikings will play in London the following week. Minnesota will not be the first team to play consecutive weeks outside the states, the Jacksonville Jaguars played in London in consecutive weeks in 2023 and 2024 but they were in different venues in the same city. Luckily for Minnesota London is in the same time zone as Dublin, so there’s that, I guess.

Minnesota will also be a part of the first NFL game in Dublin Ireland, which is another NFL first for this trip.
Advantages For The Vikings
Also, these games are technically “road” games for the Vikings, so they’re not missing out on home game revenue. The NFL will share money with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns who will be the home teams for the two upcoming games for the Vikings.
The NFL will also offer some compensation to the Vikings for travel and other expenses, for the upcoming games. In addition, each player gets a $5,000 stipend for playing outside the country, so the Vikings players will get two of those stipends while they’re gone.
What's Next For Minnesota?
The advantage for the Vikings is after the next two games; they’ll fly home and have a week off before hosting Philadelphia on October 19th at US Bank Stadium.
The next two week’s we can “couch-gate” in our PJ’s and have brunch with the Vikings and hope that history repeats itself, the Vikings are 8-0 overall in games in other countries and 4-0 in international regular season games thus far.
