The Minnesota Lynx are the 2017 WNBA champions after defeating the Los Angeles Sparks 85-76 in game five last night at Williams Arena on the U of M campus in Minneapolis. It's the 4th championship of the Lynx in seven years.

Lynx center Sylvia Fowles was named the 2017 WNBA Finals Most Valuable Player.

The Minnesota Lynx also claimed the WNBA title in 2011, 2013, 2015 -- losing in game 5 of the championship series last season to these same Los Angeles Sparks.

A championship celebration parade is scheduled for 6:30 PM this evening in Minneapolis. The route will start on University Avenue at 12 Avenue SE, rolling down University Ave. towards Williams Arena where a celebration will be held -- free and open to the public.
