Minnesota Delta Skymiles Card Increasing Fees – Is it Still Worth It?

Having a AMEX Delta Skymiles card can really make flying easier... in some cases.  If you have one of these cards, and you use the card whenever possible, along with booking your travel plans, you can really rack up the perks.  Depending on how much you use the card, sometimes your flights can be free, or next to free.  Plus being able to use the sky club in the airport, no bag fees, priority boarding, TSA precheck in some cases, and some other perks as well.

But when the annual fees for just having the card increase this much, you may have to figure out if the perks outweigh the fees on the card.  And the interest is fairly high too.  So, unless you pay off the card every month, this can get expensive. Although, if you fly enough, the perks may still be worth it.

Here is the breakdown of the new fees... depending on which card you have.

• The Delta SkyMiles American Express Reserve card's fees will rise to $650 annually, up from $550. 
• The cobranded platinum card's fees will increase to $350, up from $250 annually.
• The gold card fee will rise to $150 up from $99. 

But wait... there's more!  Along with these increased fees, there are also some added perks being added so they can ease the pain a bit.

The new card benefits include credits for the following travel and dining platforms:

• Delta Stays, the airline's travel portal for hotels and vacation rentals
• Resy, the online restaurant reservation platform
• Ride-sharing services Uber, Lyft, Curb, Revel, Alto and Via rides

So, if you do have a business Delta Sky Miles card  - probably want to keep that. If it's a personal one, might want to weigh out the pros and cons.
