Now that it is officially November the holidays are literally just around the corner, and that means lots of food! So I figured this was an appropriate time to share with you my recipe for my favorite cocktail meatballs.

I love all the good food I get to eat around the holidays, and I try not to regret it too much because it's only once a year...right? Oh well, that's what treadmills are for.

A few years ago I was asked to bring an appetizer to a holiday cocktail party and after agonizing over what to bring I decided meatballs would be perfect,I mean who doesn't love a good meatball. So I was searching the internet for a good recipe and every one I found was either spicy (not my taste) or it contained grape jelly (not my thing either) or barbecue sauce (nope, I don't like barbecue sauce). I guess you could say I'm kind of a picky eater.

Finally I came across this one and I have been using it ever since. They are so good and simple and I always go home with an empty crock pot.

You can either make your own meatball from scratch or do what I do and and buy your favorite frozen brand.

Place the meatballs in a crock pot (if frozen, no need to thaw or precook)

Sauce:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

I usually use one and a half times these ingredients per frozen bag of meatballs (for2 bags of meatballs multiply recipe by three)

Combine all ingredients in large bowl. Stir well and poor over meatballs. Turn crock pot on low for 4-6 hours or until meatballs are heated all the way through.
Use this recipe at your upcoming holiday party and they are sure to be a hit!
