Welcome to July. We celebrate America’s birthday this week, and the fact that it falls on a Thursday means this week and next will likely be a bit disjointed. Some are taking this week off, some taking Friday and all next week off.

For those who have Friday off, but aren’t heading out of town, here’s something that you might want to check out.

Minnesota’s Largest Outdoor Flea Market is in South Haven. The Wright County Swappers meet will be open on Friday in honor of the holiday week.

This weekend, the Wright County Swappers Meet will be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7am until around 1.

This location has been family operated since 1970 and is a part of many native Minnesotans' memories growing up in the area.

From that first day in 1970 that featured five vendors and about a dozen shoppers, now it is a sprawling fifty-acre area for curious shoppers to look through all the offerings.

There will be food vendors on site, so you can come hungry, or when you shop up an appetite. If you need to have more cash on hand, there are two ATMs. Most vendors prefer cash because the cell phone service can be dicey, which means the card readers aren’t likely to work well.

Parking is free and of course there is no charge to shop.

According to their website, the grounds are gravel and can somewhat be uneven, and may be a little challenging for wheelchairs. There are 5 handicap parking spaces on the grounds, but getting one of those could be tricky.

There are a couple of wheelchair accessible port-a-biffs on the grounds as well, so they are trying to be as accessible as possible in the current structure. Just realize there’s not smooth pavement on the grounds.

This weekend is their annual 4th of July sale, so if Friday doesn’t work for you, there’s always Saturday and Sunday. The address is 13594 100th St. NW in South Haven.
