Being a police officer is kind of like being a teacher. You work long hours, pour your heart into your work and sometimes it can be a thankless job. Sometimes it's nice to be reminded of how much you're appreciated by the community you serve.

The Sauk Rapids Storm Youth Hockey team decided to show a little gratitude to the Benton County Sheriff's Office.

The team presented deputies with an appreciation certificate. The award reads, "Certificate of Appreciation Awarded To Benton County Sheriff's Office, Thank You For Your Service!"

It's signed by several members of the team. At the bottom of the certificate reads, "The Sauk Rapids Storm Youth Hockey salutes you for your bravery and dedication to our country."

Along with the certificate, the sheriff's office received several handmade 'thank you' cards from the young hockey players.

Some of the kids drew pictures of police officers and others decided to expressed their gratitude in words. It's a really sweet gesture and it was definitely felt by the department.

The official Benton County Sheriff's Office Facebook page shared pictures of the cards and certificate and wrote, "It's always nice to walk into work and see things from our supportive community. Today, our smiles are brought to us by the Sauk Rapids STORM Youth Hockey!"

I truly believe it's always nice to let someone know you appreciate them. So, let's keep this thread going. I challenge you to express your gratitude for someone or something in your life this weekend. Thanks for inspiring us all to be a little better, Sauk Rapids STORM Youth Hockey!

It's always nice to walk into work and see things from our supportive community. Today, our smiles are brought to us by Sauk Rapids STORM Youth Hockey! 🏒
