St. Cloud Chef Wins Celebrity ‘Plates & Partners’ Competition

Mrs. O, a well-known celebrity chef with more than 15 years in the culinary world, has spent the last decade running her own catering company, traveling the globe to cook for major stars, promoter companies, and radio stations. She’s completed two national tours, covering 64 cities in just eight months, all while working with a tight team of five.

With her schedule growing busier every year, it became clear she needed to expand. That’s how her newest project, the 'Plates & Partners' competition, was born: a search for talented chefs who could match her pace, skill, and passion.

LOCAL ST CLOUD CHEF WINS COMPETITION

On Sunday, November 2nd, Minneapolis hosted the inaugural Plates & Partners event and one of the competitors was St. Cloud’s own Shavonne “Chevy” Crume.

Chevy’s connection with Mrs. O actually started five years ago when she walked into one of the chef’s restaurants in New Hope, Minnesota, just hoping for a conversation. Mrs. O says that from that very first moment, she knew Chevy was “the real deal.” And she was right. Despite humbly calling herself “a cook, not a chef,” Chevy went on to win the entire competition.

CHEVY WILL BE TOURING IN 2026

That win has now earned her an enormous opportunity: Chevy will join Mrs. O as a tour partner from February 6th through May of 2026. Not only will she be Mrs. O’s partner on the road, but she’ll also take on the role of Captain of Squad B; meaning she’ll lead the catering team in cities where Mrs. O can’t be present.

CHEVY IS READY

Chevy says she’s still shocked by her win. She’s naturally quiet and humble, but anyone who meets her quickly discovers her incredible drive. When I asked if she felt ready to hit the road, she didn’t hesitate.
“At this point… YES! It’s going to be exciting and a new beginning for me.”

TOURING THE UNITED STATES

Her tour schedule will take her to major cities like Louisville, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Columbus, Hampton, and Philadelphia, with many more stops to come. At each location, the team will handle all backstage catering — preparing meals for 100 to 200 people each night, including celebrities, production crews, union members, and theater staff. It’s a huge undertaking and one of the toughest parts of tour-level catering. But Chevy is ready.

BRINGING HOME THE HARDWARE

Five chefs competed in this first-ever Plates & Partners, each showcasing their signature dishes. Judging happened in three tiers: a People’s Choice award, a Backstage Judges’ Choice, and finally Mrs. O’s personal picks — the final step that determines the next tour partner. Chevy ended up taking home three trophies, including the top honor as well as the People's Choice Award. When they called her name, she could hardly believe it. “I asked the young lady before I accepted the trophy, ‘Did you just call my name?’”

CHEVY PIT CATERING COMPANY

Chevy, who owns the local catering company Chevy’s Pit, is now preparing for Mrs. O’s intense culinary bootcamp that will get her ready for next year’s whirlwind tour.

And just like that, St. Cloud’s very own Chevy Crume is headed for the national stage; proof that talent, heart, and humility can take you all the way.
