WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY

The 35W Bridge will be lit up blue at dusk to recognize World Autism Awareness Day. I'm proud of Minnesota for going the extra mile, and recognizing that 1 in 42 kids is diagnosed with some type of Autism disorder.

I've created a Facebook donation page for The Ultimate Autism Foundation. The funds raised help our LOCAL families with things that medical insurance cannot cover. This can vary depending on individual needs.  If you'd like to contribute click HERE now.

WHAT'S HAPPENING AROUND OUR STATE

At 9:30 am this morning, people will be gathering at the Capitol to have discussions with The Autism Society of Minnesota, to focus on those with the disorder, and then later on in the afternoon, around 1 pm, A Senate Committee will be discussing a bill that would fund a grant to help train emergency personnel in helping people with Autism in c crisis situations.

GO MALL OF AMERICA & NICKELODEON UNIVERSE!

Most of Mall of America and Nickelodeon Universe staff have had training in understanding autism sensitivity  making them a Certified Autism Center.  Many of the rides now offer sensory guides so guests know what to expect when considering the ride.

MSP AIRPORT

MSP Airport ALSO recognizes that flying can be particularly difficult for their passengers on the spectrum.  They provide online training to help people get ready before they arrive at the airport so they know what to expect from their travel every step of the way. They even get to board a plane and meet a pilot. The next training is scheduled for April 13th, and you can sign up by clicking HERE!
