Delta Airlines Announces Upgrades – But Are They Really?
So- I can be kind of cheap when it comes to booking flights. As long as I have enough leg room (exit rows work) I'm ok. I used to fly Sun Country or some charter flight whenever possible. However, now those "discount" airlines are starting to nickel and dime you so much now, with baggage fees, seat selection fees and so forth. So much so that now, it's about the same price to fly a major airline like Delta, than it is with the discount airlines with less comfort.
HERE ARE THE UPGRADES THAT DELTA HAS ANNOUNCED FOR THIS YEAR
Anyway, Delta, which has a hub here in Minneapolis/St. Paul, has announced some upgrades. And I'm not really sure that they are actually "upgrades" they are more like just changes.
From the Business Journal:
- Fresca sparkling citrus soda has returned to the refreshment rotation.
- T-Mobile customers can now score a free alcoholic beverage on eligible flights by linking their accounts in the T-Life app.
- SkyMiles members now get complimentary access to the Wall Street Journal while flying using the Delta Sync Wi-Fi
Are these really upgrades? I guess if you are a T-Mobile customer, that might be. Fresca? And also those (not on this list) Sun Chips that they were giving out, now is being replaced by Rold Gold mini pretzels. I know that people like those, but personally, I really can not stand pretzels. And those especially - how plain can you get?
THESE ARE THE UPGRADES THAT MOST PASSENGERS WOULD LIKE
Upgrades that would be amazing would be more comfortable seats, and a but more leg room. I get that if they do that in economy, there will be less room for passengers - as in not as many could be on a flight. BUT, the passengers you do have would be very grateful! I'm not talking like a foot, or anything, but a good 3-4 inches would actually help quite a bit. Especially on a 4 hour flight or so. Flights that are longer like 9 hours or more, they are already bigger with more room. It would be great to have that on flights that are more than 2 hours.
MAKE SURE AND DO THIS WHEN YOU ARE FLYING
By the way, Delta also changed their complimentary beverage and snack service for flights under two hours (350 miles). You will get nothing. So, you better buy something in the airport after TSA and before you board. And yes, you are going to pay big prices for those snacks you purchase at the airport. So, bring an empty reusable water bottle. That will be your biggest friend.
