Number 1 Frozen Pizza Brand In America Comes From Wisconsin
Frozen pizzas were always a staple while growing up in the Midwest. When I was a kid, I don't think a week went by when I didn't have at least 1 frozen pizza. That tradition continues today with me and my family. Sometimes it's just so easy to throw one in the oven instead of having to worry about what's for dinner. Plus, everybody loves it.
Wisconsin and Minnesota are the top two frozen pizza-producing states, so apparently, it is a Midwest thing. Pizza sales numbers vary from year to year, but the top three brands consistently trade places, and all of them are from Wisconsin or Minnesota.
Why are so many frozen pizzas made in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin's dairy production is key to the frozen pizza process because a main ingredient in every type of pizza is cheese. So, Wisconsin already has the built in infrastructure for that.

Correction: an earlier version of this story said that Schwan's makes Roma pizzas too. Schwans reached out to say they don't make Roma pizza, and also shared other statistics saying that Red Baron is the number 1 pizza today.
Most Frozen Pizzas Are Consumed In The Winter
It's no surprise that frozen pizzas are consumed more frequently in the winter. According to Evidnt, 64% of sales occur in the fall and winter. With both Minnesota and Wisconsin having the longest winters, it makes sense that we take such ownership of this comfort food.
