We are just weeks from Memorial Day weekend, and temperatures are starting to get warmer in the great state of Minnesota. But warmer outside temps mean even hotter interior temps for your car. Even with the windows down, temperatures can almost double inside cars. Do NOT leave kids or pets in them during warm days, situations can become fatal in a matter of minutes, and it can result in a fine.

Minnesota has a “hot car” law that allow certain public officials (law enforcement, humane officers, or fire and rescue department) to break into the vehicle to rescue a dog or cat. Those are the only types of pets covered in this law in Minnesota. But this law does NOT allow civilians to break into cars. If you see a cat or dog in a car that you think needs rescuing, call the police department and wait for them to arrive and help. Read more about "hot car" laws here.
