Well, winter sure arrived quick!

We went from a pair of gorgeous, 50+ degree days to cold and snow in the blink of an eye. We got a bunch of snow the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, which meant people might have been out of town and not able to shovel immediately.

Then, seemingly five minutes later, we were handed below-freezing temperatures, which meant that the holiday travelers returned to find hard, compacted snow clogging their driveways and sidewalks.

During our turkey day meal, I overheard one of my relatives mention that they weren't worried about all that hard-packed snow in their driveway. If they just are patient, they said, the warmer days ahead will simply melt the snow away.

Uh, you might want to check the forecast before making such a prediction. As far as I can see, the closest we will get to 'above freezing' would be this Friday... when there is also MORE SNOW in the forecast. Otherwise the long-range outlook is cold, cold and even colder.

Following up the other day, I asked them how their driveway was looking, and it turned out they had an all-new, foolproof strategy for the three inches of ice on their drive.

This is what they sent:

Yeah, I don't think that is going to work out for you bud. I actually don't know if an entire tanker truck full of ice melt would tackle that iceberg, but whatever little jar of it you bought certainly ain't gonna cut it.

I hate to say it, but if you didn't get to your driveway yet, it is probably too late and you might have to invest in some broomball shoes to help you get the mail!
