Hefty Minnesota Snowfall Totals from Yesterday's Storm

Yesterday was a snowy weather day across Minnesota. Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories across the southern part of the state is where the snow really piled up.

Snow moved from southwest to northeast across Minnesota, with snow starting to fall around 11:00 AM Monday morning in Saint Cloud. Even though we know Old Man Winter's not done with us, these totals are impressive.

MnDOT and the Highway Patrol reported several spinouts and crashes across the region throughout the day yesterday.

March is traditionally the third snowiest month of the year in Minnesota, so there shouldn't be any real surprise with what happened yesterday. We're probably not done yet either. January is historically the snowiest month of the year, followed closely by December.

The rest of the week looks sunny and dry across Central Minnesota with a chance of rain creeping into the forecast for Sunday.

Today will be coolest day of the week, with a gradual warmup heading towards the 50s again this weekend.

Yesterday's storm was the same system that hammered Colorado and parts of the Rocky Mountain west over the weekend. Buckhorn Mountain, Colorado received 42 inches of snow, while parts of Denver recorded 30 inches.
