A heat advisory's in effect across Central Minnesota this afternoon and early evening. Hot temps and high humidity are going to make it tropical today. And things could get bumpy Wednesday and Wednesday night, the eve of the Minnesota State Fair.

Here's what the National Weather Service has to say about it:

Hot and humid weather is expected today and Wednesday, with highs in the 90s and heat indices near 100 for many locations. A cold front will drop through the region on Wednesday, bringing the possibility of severe thunderstorms to areas mainly south/east of the Twin Cities. More seasonable temperatures are expected Thursday and Friday, but significantly warmer temperatures will return over the weekend and persist into next week.

Use your good Central Minnesota common sense and keep cool, watch out for folks and animals who aren't in air conditioning and don't overdo it. And if you're going to have a beer or soda or two, make sure you're compensating with plenty of water. Alcohol and caffeine dehydrate the body.
