Highs near 95° today with dew points in the mid-seventies has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Heat Advisory for Central Minnesota, in effect from 11:00 this morning through 8:00 tonight.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 911.

From the National Weather Service this morning: Heat Indices will approach 100-105 in the metro today, with an excessive heat warning for the metro and a heat advisory for the surrounding areas.
