The undefeated Minnesota Golden Gophers football team routed Maryland 52-10 on Saturday, and have climbed to 13th in the latest AP poll released today.

The ranking is the highest since 1999 when Minnesota was 12th.

The Gophers have started the season 8-0 for the first time since 1941 when they went on to win the national championship. Minnesota is 5-0 in the Big Ten for the first time since 1960.

Gopher head coach P.J. Fleck has been publicly lobbying for ESPN's 'College Game Day' show to come to Minneapolis for the matchup.
