With all the cancellations rolling in, let's focus on something else that's NOT cancelled: fishing. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has made it super simple to get your new 2020 license. You can apply through the DNR's website.

It's really easy too. If you're a new user to the website, you'll need to create a new account. Once your account is created you will be asked to select the type of license you're applying for.

You can pay for your fishing license online with your credit card and a three percent convenience fee will be charged. You can choose to either print your license off on your home printer or have it sent to you by mail. There's an additional $1.65 fee if you choose to have your license mailed to you.

That's it! It's super simple and you can even register your boat online too. You don't have to stand in line anywhere so there's no excuse to be out on the water without your fishing license this year! Plus, buying a license is way cheaper than paying the pricey fine you could get for fishing without it.

I'll see you on the lake. The 2020 opener is Saturday, May 9th.

Pete Hanson is on 98.1 Minnesota's New Country weekday mornings from 5:30 to 10:00.
